The Brazilian under-20 team beat Paraguay 2-1 this Friday, for the South American tournament. Stênio and Ronald scored for Brazil, while Kevin Pereira scored for the Paraguayans, at the Monumental Stadium, in Cali.
The result guaranteed the first position in Group A for the Brazilian team, which leads with 10 points and is classified for the final Hexagonal, where four places will be disputed for the under-20 World Cup.
First time
Despite the victory, Brazil started the match badly. Even with the reserve team, the Selection repeated the problems of the draw against Colombia in the last game. Many passes between defenders and defensive midfielders, without progression to the attacking field.
In the 21st minute, Kevin Pereira received the ball, dominated in speed and invaded the area. On the way back from the break, the Brazilian team improved its performance. In the 9th minute of the second half, Pedrinho took a corner kick and midfielder Ronald climbed higher than the Paraguayan defenders to head the goal.
After the comeback, coach Ramon Menezes put starters on the field like Marlon Gomes and Vitor Roque. In the 36th minute, the forward Athletico-PR almost widened the scoreboard. Vitor Roque invaded the area, shot hard, but goalkeeper Talavera made a good save.

With the leadership guaranteed in Group A, Brazil advances to the final Hexagonal of the South American under-20 tournament. In the next phase, the Brazilian team will face the third place in Group B, this Tuesday. The opponent will be defined after the final round of group B, this Saturday.
Argentina disqualified
For Group A, Argentina lost this Friday to Colombia, by 1 to 0, and was left out of the classification zone for the next phase. Javier Mascherano’s team finished fourth, with just three points added.
