The head of the Italian Ice Sports Federation (FISG), Andrea Dzhios, appreciated the decision of the European Championship medalist Daniel Grassl to train in Russia with Eteri Tutberidze. His words are quoted by OA sport.
Gios called Grassl’s transition to Tutberidze an excellent choice from a technical point of view. “He has obligations for four years, he wants to prepare as best as possible,” said the functionary.
On January 13, it was reported that the 20-year-old Grassl decided to prepare for international tournaments in the Tutberidze group. After he said that he received a lot of negative comments because of the trip to Moscow.
Grassl is the silver medalist of the European Championship 2022. He also has four victories at the Italian Championship and a bronze medal at the World Junior Championship.
Russian figure skaters have been suspended from participation in tournaments under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU). The ban is in effect until further notice.
