After announcing the day before the tour of the seven stages that favor sprinters, the Giro today presented stages that both the specialists of the one-day classics and the most competitive in the final sprint can opt for.

“Son six very interesting stages because they are open to more solutions, with leaks from afar, attacks in the end or sprint in the last meters ”, said Peter Sagan, one of the stars who will start the next May.

They will be important tests for the cyclamen jersey (point ranking), but also could be important for the general”Said the Slovak, winner on Saturday of the Critérium Giro d’Italia, raced in Dubai.

Etapa Diamante-Potenza

The first half-mountain stage will have a route of 198 kilometers in southern Italy, with a drop of 4,490 meters. The runners will begin to compete a few steps from the sea and will then go through several medium level climbs, among which Mount Sirino stands out, which returns to the Giro after 23 years of waiting.

Naples-Naples stage

Departure and arrival in the southern city of Naples for the second half mountain stage, with a tour of 149 kilometers and a 19-kilometer circuit which provides for five climbs to Mount Procida. The final will be on the Caracciolo road in Naples, where a final sprint is expected to define the winner.

Pescara-Jesi stage

This stage foresees a tour of 198 kilometers with a height difference of 1730 meters, with a flat exit, near the sea, and a demanding final section, with tireless climbs to Civitanova Alta, Sant’Ignazio de Montelupone, Recanati, Filottrano, Santa Maria Nova and Monsano.

Parma-Genoa stage

The Giro will pass through the northern region Emilia Romagna, departing in Parma and arriving in the capital of Liguria, Genoa, with a tour of 186 kilometers and 2,840 meters of elevation gain. Among the most interesting climbs is that of Monte Becco, to be climbed for the first time in the history of the Giro.

Stage Santena-Turin

The runners will then pass through Piedmont, with a short stage, of 153 kilometers, but with 3,470 meters of unevenness. If the short route is considered, it is a remarkable unevenness, which makes this stage a very interesting test for climbers.

Etapa Marano Lagunare-Santuario de Castelmonte
