The mayor of Paris, Hidalgo, said that Russia should perform at the Olympics-2024 in a neutral status

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo spoke about the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games (OI), which will be hosted by the French capital. Her words are quoted by RMC Sport.

“I think this is the time for athletes and they should not be denied the opportunity to compete,” Hidalgo said. At the same time, she stressed that Russian athletes should perform on the terms of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), namely in a neutral status.

On January 25, the IOC announced that it was considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. It is clarified that only athletes who did not support the CBO in Ukraine and did not violate anti-doping rules will be able to get permission to compete in international tournaments. The Russian Olympic Committee took the initiative as an attempt to take a step towards the athletes.

The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
