The Basque Government acquires 26 works by contemporary Basque artists

The Artium contemporary art museum has added another 26 works by 18 Basque artists to its collection shared with the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and Tabakalera.

This program for the acquisition of works chosen from the three artistic institutions began in 2020 with the aim of supporting Basque artists due to the effects caused by the covid pandemic in the world of art. Since then, 117 works by 61 authors have been acquired.

The artists represented in this update of the shared collection are José Ramón Ais, Ibon Aranberri, Nora Aurrekoetxea, Josu Bilbao, Leo Burge, Esther Ferrer, Elena Goñi, Ibon Landa, Laida Lertxundi, Inés Medina, Damaris Pan, Alberto Peral, Txuspo Poyo , José Antonio Sistiaga, Susana Talayero, Gentza del Valle, Begoña Zubero and Alazne Zubizarreta.

The Basque Government has allocated 200,000 euros to finance the purchase of the works.
