The Giro 2022 announces the route of the “moved” stages

The organization of Tour of Italy 2022 unveiled this Tuesday the stages that he described as “moved”. Most of them are of great difficulty and with significant ups and downs designed for explosive endings. A stage will end in Slovenia.

After unveiling the flat stages designed for big sprints, the Giro detailed the toughest mid-mountain stages. The stage between Diamante and Potenza will pass through the mountains of Calabria and Lucania and will carry the return to the Giro d’Italia of Monte Sirino, after 23 years of absence. A 1st category port that will be the most complicated of the stage. The route has more than 4,490 meters of accumulated positive slope and 198 kilometers of route.

Like a classic, Naples will host the start and finish of a 149-kilometer stage that will be “short and intense”. Another of the ‘moved’ stages of the Giro will be the one that will depart from Pescara and arrive in Jesi after 194 kilometers. A flat stage at the beginning that will give way to an end of ups and downs with three levels of the 4th category of demanding ramps as a wall.

Parma and Genoa will be the start and finish of a stage of 186 kilometers and a half mountain which looks good for a leak. Just over 20 kilometers from the finish, Monte Becco (2nd) can make a difference in the day.

There will be more unevenness in the 154 kilometer stage between Santena and Torino, a stage that, although short, will have no respite, with five scoring passes and other uncategorized climbs that prevent practically a kilometer from being flat. He will climb Superga twice and Maddalena and Santa Brigida three times for a very intense finish in Turin.

Slovenia, land of Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic among others, it will also mark part of the Giro 2022. It will be in the stage between Marano Lagunare and the Santuario di Castelmonte, over 178 kilometers and with 3,230 meters of unevenness. A stage with “traps” and a high end and with un unprecedented port, the Slovenian Mount Kolovrat, with 10 kilometers at almost 10 percent of average slope despite the fact that it includes a flat section.
