CSKA player Carrascal said he did not experience pressure in Colombia due to moving to Russia
Colombian midfielder CSKA Jorge Carrascal spoke about the pressure at home because of the contract with the Russian club. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.
The legionnaire stated that his family and friends were worried about the move to Russia. “At that moment, I did not succumb to the general panic. I am driven by football, so I made decisions based on football circumstances, ”the midfielder explained.
Carrascal noted that there was no pressure from the Colombian Football Federation. “Nobody told me anything like that. If you do your job well, you will be rewarded with a ticket to the national team. That’s all,” he said, adding that he would like to stay in Russia for a long time and continue playing for CSKA.
Carrascal was on loan at CSKA until the end of the 2021/2022 season. After that, the team’s management decided to buy the player.
On March 7 last year, the International Football Federation (FIFA) allowed the legionnaires of the Russian Premier League to suspend contracts unilaterally. Foreign players could sign agreements with foreign clubs until June 30.
Russian football teams and clubs have been suspended from international tournaments under the auspices of FIFA and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). Thus, in the 2022/2023 season, Russian clubs are not represented in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
