The Roma player has already communicated to his club and coach José Mourinho that he wants to leave the Italian team in this transfer window. However, the team has yet to receive an “acceptable” offer for the 23-year-old.
Tottenham and Roma were discussing a loan transfer for the striker. However, while the English club wanted a purchase obligation only if they qualified for the next Champions League, the Italian team would like the obligation – which would be 30 million euros (R $ 166.8 million) – to occur regardless of qualification. .
In the meantime, Milan have also shown an interest in Zaniolo and the Italians are keen to include a mandatory buyout clause at the end of the mid-year loan. The current Italian champion offered around 25 million euros for the athlete (R$ 139 million).
Zaniolo has struggled to perform as he has done for Roma before. The striker scored the goal that won the Conference League title for his team last season. A transfer to Milan or Tottenham could help him regain his good football.
