Fans accuse tennis player Djokovic of cheating with the transfer of a bottle at the Australian Open

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has been accused by fans of cheating at the 2023 Australian Open. It is reported by “Championship”.

A viewer filmed a video showing how, during the match of the second round of the tournament, one of the coaches of the athlete made a note on paper, attached a note to the bottle and handed it to Djokovic through a stadium employee. It is noted that the tennis player carefully studied what was written.

Coaches are only allowed to give verbal instructions to tennis players during a match when they are on the same side of the court. Djokovic and the coach were on different sides of the courts, so the Serb could only receive advice through signals and gestures.

In January 2022, Djokovic became involved in a scandal at the Australian Open. He planned to take part in the tournament, but his visa did not include data on a medical exemption from vaccination against COVID-19. As a result of the incident, the tennis player was deported from Australia and could not play in the championship. He was banned from visiting the country for three years, but later the restriction was lifted.

Djokovic reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2023, where he will meet with Russian Andrey Rublev. The match will take place on January 25th.
