Speaking to Eurosportthe German tennis player was full of praise for the figure of Nadal, who he believes could be president of Spain and whom he sees as a great favorite for Roland Garros if he arrives in shape.
“Nadal is not a tennis legend, he is a sports legend, he is one of the most important athletes of the last 25 years. He has become even more popular, he can become president of Spain if he wants, but I think he’ll pick up a racket again. If he is in shape, for me he is still the favorite for Roland Garros ”, he specified.
However, Becker also has doubts about how far Nadal’s career will go and believes that, as a result of the injury in his match against Nadal, the retirement of the Balearic tennis player is getting closer.
“If Nadal will play until he is 40 years old? I don’t think so, the loss against McDonald’s is a first step towards withdrawal. An injury like this is hard and at his age it takes longer to get back in shape. I hope he recovers soon and we will see him again, in Paris at the latest.
