Aberasturi, who has surpassed Bennett himself in this second stage, is in the sixth place in the general classification, six seconds behind the first. He has obtained third place in the massive arrival that has determined the winner of the longest day of the Vuelta a San Juan 2023; the current world champion, Remco Evenepoel, has participated in the preparation of the sprint for his teammate Jakobsen, the current European champion, who has finished off the work of his team.

After the stage, Jon Aberasturi was “very happy” with what was done in the “first sprint of the year”. The cyclist from Alava had already tried to fight for victory in the first stage, but the incidents at the end prevented him, like other rivals, from opting for victory. In this context, he stated that Monday “was different, the team was with me until the end and I was able to at least try. I’m happy with the sensations and I’ll keep trying”.
