Benzema draws with Raul and is only behind CR7 in the historic artillery of La Liga for Real Madrid

With the goal scored this Sunday against Athletic Bilbao, Karim Benzema reached the milestone of 228 goals for Real Madrid no Spanish Championship and became the second highest scorer of the merengue club in the competition, tied with Raul and only behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

After Valverde’s cross, Asensio headed it into the middle of the area and Benzema scored the first goal. The Frenchman’s plastic move gave Real Madrid the advantage in the match, which ended beating Bilbao 2-0out of home.

Benzema scored his 228th goal for the merengue club in La Liga and equaled the numbers of former Portuguese player Raúl González, who played for Real Madrid between 1994 and 2010. At the top of the list, Cristiano Ronaldo appears with 312 goals.

The French forward has already surpassed Raúl in goalscoring in all competitions for Real Madrid and is the club’s second-highest goalscorer with 335 goals in the net. Currently, Benzema is the player with the most matches played in the squad and wears the captain’s armband.
