Three weeks later than expected, the first familiarization trips began on the Quito Metro

Almost three weeks after the announcement of the start of the familiarization trips of the Quito Metro, the trains with passengers were mobilized this Monday.

Initially it was scheduled for January 5, but due to a technological problem it was postponed, and this Monday, the 23rd, the first trip was made at 08:08, since the first Metro train with occupants arrived at the El Labrador station, in the north of the city.

He had left from the Quitumbe station, to the south.

Metro de Quito needs a circulation permit from the Ministry of Mobility to operate since March

According to the official website of the capital’s Municipality, in order to be able to travel, a Metro Q account must be activated on the Metro website.

However, before noon, when trying to enable an account, the message that has become persistent was kept: “Dear user, the page will be enabled soon. We will be communicating the new schedules through our website and through the media.”

Roberto Custode, operations manager of the Quito Metro Metropolitan Public Company, indicated that from 2:00 p.m. on Monday, citizens will be able to access and obtain their learning passes.

Visiting hours will be between 07:00 and 10:00, and the user will be able to get a turn and go to the station they want.

You will be able to take a trip to a station or a “round trip” which means going back to the station from which you started.

This familiarization will be until the beginning of March when the commercial operation would begin and users must cancel for the trip.

The objective, added the official, is for the citizen to learn security in accessing underground transportation.

The hours -once the commercial operation starts- will be from 05:30 to 23:00 from Monday to Friday, and from 07:00 to 23:00 on Saturdays, and from 07:00 to 22:00 on Sundays and holidays.
