Ukrainian mixed martial arts fighter (MMA) Ihor Poterya responded to criticism for dancing after defeating the former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Brazilian Mauricio Rua. His words are quoted by the MMA Fighting YouTube channel.
“My nickname is the Duelist, and it was a duel. I took out a gun, but did not shoot [в Руа]. I shot in the air because I respect my opponent,” Loss said.
Earlier, UFC fighters Belal Muhammad and Tanner Boser criticized the Loss due to its celebration. “You shouldn’t do stupid dances when you defeat a legend like Shogun (Mauricio Rua – approx. “Tapes. RU”), in his farewell fight,” Boser wrote. Muhammad said that now he hates the Ukrainian.
On the night of January 22, Loss defeated Rua by technical knockout in the first round at UFC 283. For the Brazilian, this fight was the final in his professional career.
