CR7 makes his official debut at Al Nassr with a 1-0 victory over Al-Ittifaq

The Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo debuted this Sunday with a victory in his first official game as an Al-Nassr player, beating Al-Ittifaq by 1-0, for the Saudi championship, at Mrsool Park, in Riyadh, for the 14th round.

In a festive mood thanks to the 22,862 fans motivated by their idol’s debut, CR7 was very participatory on all fronts of the attack, multiplying the appeals to score, but without success.

A few days after scoring a one-two against PSG in a gala friendly match (defeat by 5 to 4), the Portuguese star, appointed captain of Al-Nassr by French coach Rudi García, was important in the match.

The goal came after a collective move: Al Sulaiheem crossed and found CR7, who lifted the ball, but it was the Brazilian Anderson Talisca, better positioned, who ended up sending it to the back of the net (31′).

Five minutes later, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner tried to score from a free-kick but found no goal.

His best chance was a powerful shot that Brazilian goalkeeper Paulo Victor (78) managed to block.

The Saudi crowd welcomed the star with a banner in the stands at Mrsool Park proclaiming “We wish you the best but you are already the best”.

“He is one of the best players in the history of football, so it is very important for us to do everything possible to put him in the best condition,” said Al-Nassr French coach Rudi Garcia after the match.

“I want him to be happy playing and tonight he was happy to play for the first time with his new team,” he added.

With this victory, Al Nassr leads the championship with 33 points, one ahead of its rival Al Hilal.
