Saturday’s duel between Astoria and Spojnia was one of the best opportunities for the Bydgoszcz club to get out of a very difficult situation in the league table. The team from Brda, in the 2022/2023 season, has won only three matches so far and is in the penultimate place in the league. Spojnia, in turn, rotates in the upper part of the table, losing only two points to the second Trefl Sopot.
An incomprehensible decision
Having the rights to show Energa Basket Liga, Polsat Sport decided that Saturday’s match will not be broadcast on open channels. Thus, the opportunity to conduct live coverage was given to Emocje.TV, which, despite its sincere intentions, could not do everything as it had previously assumed.
All because of the decision of the activists of Astoria Bydgoszcz, who did not allow the broadcasters to connect the OCR system, responsible for, among others, for match graphics, to the scoreboard, from which the result and time to the end of each quarter would be downloaded on an ongoing basis.
Telewizja Emocje.TV, in response to the problems caused by the incomprehensible behavior of the host authorities, decided to display a meaningful message during the broadcast, informing viewers why they do not see the result of the match on an ongoing basis. This was immediately noticed by fans who shared the information on social media.
Ultimately, Astoria Bydgoszcz lost the Saturday match with Spojnia Stargard 89:98. The best player of the meeting was home star Myke Henry, who had 30 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds. The excellent attitude of the American, however, was not enough for the Bydgoszcz team to achieve the intended result.
