Polina Emelianenko, the wife of the Russian mixed martial arts fighter (MMA) Alexander Emelianenko, spoke in an interview with the Bez Vody YouTube channel about her wedding in the Butyrka pre-trial detention center in 2015.
Emelianenko called the painting in the pre-trial detention center a nightmare. “The procedure itself is simple – the groom and the registrar meet with you in an ordinary room, only there are bars on the windows. Walls, table, three chairs. They ask the same thing as usual: agree – disagree, yes – yes. The groom at this moment without handcuffs. You sign – and that’s it, ”the girl described the process.
According to Emelianenko, she and her lover wanted to get married earlier, but could not get to the registry office because of the fighter’s schedule. “And when [его] imprisoned, it turned out that just like that you couldn’t get on dates with him. So we decided that we would sign so that we could go to the colony, ”the girl explained.
The Emelianenkos were married from 2015 to 2018, after which they filed for divorce. They subsequently resumed their relationship and remarried in October 2022.
Alexander Emelianenko began his career in 2003. He is known for his performances in Pride, M-1 Global, WFCA. In total, the fighter spent 38 fights. He won 28 victories and suffered nine defeats, another fight with his participation ended in a draw. From May 2015 to November 2016, the fighter was serving a sentence in a penal colony on charges of raping a housekeeper.
