Prosecutor asks and Daniel Alves will not be entitled to bail in Spain

Alves was detained this morning after being summoned for questioning over a suspected sexual assault on a woman at a Barcelona nightclub in late December, reported a source from Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan police.

Transferred to the court in the City of Justice, in the Catalan capital, the Brazilian gave a statement to the judge. Subsequently, the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested that the player, currently with the Mexican club Los Pumas, be arrested pending trial.

On January 2, the Catalan police received a complaint from a woman who said she had suffered unwanted touches from Daniel Alves, the same sources told AFP. The events allegedly took place in a Barcelona nightclub on the night of December 30 to 31, according to the local press.
