Greek Sakkari complained about the screams of the Russian woman Schneider during the Australian Open match

Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari complained to the judge about the behavior of the Russian woman Diana Schneider during the Australian Open-2023 match. Her words are reported by Eurosport.

Sakkari expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that Schneider yelled at her. “If she screams in my face again… No, she’s walking towards me. If this happens again, I will call the supervisor, ”she said. The Greek athlete noted that the Russian woman stopped screaming after her complaint.

The meeting ended with the score 3:6, 7:5, 6:3 in favor of the Greek tennis player. Athletes spent 2 hours and 33 minutes on the court.

Earlier, the Australian Tennis Federation banned fans from bringing Russian and Belarusian flags to the stands due to complaints from Ukrainian spectators. The organizers recalled that initially fans from Russia and Belarus could bring flags, but they were forbidden to wave them so as not to interfere with other fans.

The Russians play at the tournaments of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), including the Australian Open, in a neutral status. Athletes are deprived of the flag and anthem.
