Valieva called it a myth that figure skating is a sport for thin 15-year-old girls

Russian woman Kamila Valieva named the most common myth about figure skating. Her words are quoted by The Blueprint.

Valieva considered it not true that figure skating is a sport for thin 15-year-old girls. She stated that without hard, exhausting work, it is impossible for figure skaters to achieve great results. “The atmosphere on the ice is inspiring. When everyone around is working, I want to comply, ”the 16-year-old figure skater emphasized.

On January 14, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency stripped Valieva of her gold medal at the 2022 Russian Championship. At the same time, the organization informed the World Anti-Doping Agency that the skater did not violate anti-doping rules.

Valieva was at the center of a doping scandal during the 2022 Olympics. In Beijing, the figure skater won gold in the team competition as part of the Russian national team, but two days later it became known that traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in her sample dated December 25, 2021.
