Jhon Jairo Cifuente shone on Wednesday with a brace in Barcelona SC’s first preseason game on American courts, in the 5-1 win against weak Miami United, a team from the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) or fourth division.
In a test game developed at the FIU Soccer Field, the Guayaquil team made their debut as starters for the Argentines Cristian Ortiz and Jonatan Bauman and the Ecuadorian Segundo Portocarrero. All three made it to the squad in the current January transfer window.
Barcelona SC didn’t open the scoring until the second half, when Uruguayan defender Carlos Rodríguez appeared. He then scored two goals on cutthroat Cifuente, who had entered at halftime.
After the transitory 3-0, Miami United would get the discount… and nothing more.
Janner Corozo, another newcomer in the canary’s jacket, and Fidel Martínez closed the feast in the first pre-season friendly of the Shipyard idol.
Barcelona SC has two more games on its schedule. On Saturday, January 21, they will play against CS heredian of Costa Rica and on Monday the 23rd, before the Dallas F.C. from United States.
Initially, the men of the Argentine coach Fabián Bustos had to face the Mexican Atlas in Daytona Beach, Florida; however, the engagement was called off.
This was the first eleven bullfighters to tour the United States: Javier Burrai, Pedro Velasco, Joshué Quiñónez, Carlos Rodríguez, Segundo Portocarrero, Bruno Piñatares, Leonai Souza, Cristian Ortiz, Adonis Preciado, Damián Díaz and Jonatan Bauman.
