The FFKKR said that information about the possible transfer of Davis and Smolkin has not been confirmed
The Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) commented on the possible transition of the dance couple Diana Davis – Gleb Smolkin to the Israeli national team. The words of the press attaché of the organization Olga Yermolina are reported by Match TV.
Yermolina said that information about a possible change of sports citizenship by skaters has not been confirmed. “The topic of the transition of Davis and Smolkin was not even raised, these are all media assumptions,” she stressed.
Earlier on January 16, it was reported that Davis, the daughter of Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze, and Smolkin could move to the Israeli national team. It was noted that the final decision would be made based on the political situation in the world.
Davis and Smolkin made their senior Russian debut last season. They became eighth at the European Championships and took 14th place at the Beijing Olympics. In the 2022/2023 season, athletes living in the United States refused to compete in Russian tournaments due to problems with documents for leaving the country.
