Coach Elena Buyanova announced the termination of work with figure skater Alena Kostornaya because of the athlete’s desire to switch to pair skating. She told RIA Novosti about this.
“I let her go a long time ago because she started tumbling with these paired elements. I told her that I don’t need to contact me about the couple, ”the specialist shared. She noted that Kostornaya, who during her performance on the show tried to do elements of pair skating with Georgy Kunitsa, is now training with Sergei Roslyakov.
In the fall, Kostornaya underwent surgery on her leg. The figure skater said that she would need six months to recover, so she would not take part in the tournaments of the 2022/2023 season.
In July 2020, Kostornaya left the Eteri Tutberidze group and began training under the guidance of Evgeni Plushenko. In March 2021, the athlete returned to Sambo-70, and a year later she moved to CSKA to Buyanova. On account of Kostornaya, the gold of the European Championship 2020 and the Grand Prix final.
