Skater Kalalang, who escaped disqualification for doping, called for Kamila Valieva to be punished
American figure skater Jessica Kalalang, who escaped disqualification for the use of illegal drugs, called for Russian Kamila Valieva to be punished. The athlete spoke out Twitter.
“Hmm… That seems completely fair and unbiased. Doping is doping, it should automatically equate to punishment. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is due to appeal. The end,” said Kalalang.

On January 13, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) informed WADA that Valieva was not at fault for the anti-doping rule violation. At the same time, the figure skater was deprived of the gold of the Russian Championship-2022.
At the 2022 Olympics, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal with her participation. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found.
Kalalang is a three-time U.S. Championship silver medalist and runner-up at the Skate America Grand Prix. In 2021, metabolites of the banned stimulant meclofenoxate were found in her blood. The figure skater escaped punishment as she proved that the substance was contained in her cosmetics.
