Italian ski coach Kramer said that Russian culture has become a part of his life
The former coach of the Russian national cross-country skiing team, German Markus Kramer, spoke about the observance of the Russian tradition by Italian athletes. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.
“In Russia, when someone has a birthday, everyone should make a toast. And now it’s the same in our team – everyone gets up and has to say something. I love this Russian tradition!” Kramer said, expressing the hope that he would soon be able to toast with Russian athletes. He added that Russian culture has become a part of his life.
On June 29, Kramer said that in early April he had a conversation with the head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation, Elena Vyalbe, as a result of which they came to the conclusion that it was impossible to continue working in the team. Kramer has coached the Russian national team since 2015. In recent years, Olympic champions Sergey Ustyugov and Yulia Stupak have been involved in the group of the German specialist.
On March 1, the Norwegian Ski Federation suspended Russian athletes from competitions held in the country. Later, the International Ski Federation extended the ban for Russians to all competitions under the auspices of the organization. July 5 FIS extended the suspension of the Russian team.
