After taking attacking midfielder Gustavo Scarpa, at the end of his contract with palm trees, Nottingham Forest officially signed Danilo this week. Upon arrival at the new club, the midfielder highlighted the friendship built between the two since Verdão’s time and how his partner helped him in the decision to go to the Premier League team.
“It was decisive in my choice. I had already chosen Nottingham Forest and Scarpa just gave me that extra push. I am very grateful to him. Since I joined Palmeiras, he has always helped me. And I’ll be his partner again at Nottingham. May they be wonderful years”, said the midfielder in an interview with the English club’s channels.
Scarpa left Palmeiras for Nottingham Forest at the end of December, when his contract with Verdão ended. His future was already defined when he signed a pre-contract with the English club.
Danilo, on the other hand, had his sale completed this week, after Scarpa already took his first steps in the Premiere League. Thus, the steering wheel counts on the partner to adapt to the new scenario, including understanding a new language.
“He already listened to music, spoke in English. He told me to learn too, but I started and then I had to take a break. Now, over time, I learn along with him”, said the player, who also remembered Renan Lodi, another Brazilian in the squad.
“It’s great to have two Brazilians. Both are already speaking good English, so this will help me a lot to understand what the coach and teammates are asking for.”
Upon leaving Palmeiras, Danilo signed a six-and-a-half-year contract with Nottingham Forest. At Verdão, the midfielder played 141 games, scored 12 goals and won Copa Libertadores (2020 and 2021), Copa do Brasil (2020), Campeonato Brasileiro (2022), Campeonato Paulista (2022) and Recopa Sul-Americana (2022) .
The next challenge is away from home and we are still in preparation! 👊
