RUSADA commented on Valieva’s excuse

RUSADA stated that they would assess the rationale for the decision made in the case of Valieva

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) commented on the decision to acquit figure skater Kamila Valieva. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

The agency stated that they had not yet received the full text of the decision of the disciplinary committee (DAK), namely its motivational part. “We will conduct a legal assessment of the rationale for the decision made by the committee. After reviewing the motivational part of the DAK decision in this case, RUSADA will consider the possibility of appealing it,” the organization stressed.

Earlier on January 13, it became known that RUSADA informed the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) that Valieva was not guilty of violating anti-doping rules. It was noted that WADA is dissatisfied with the decision and will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

At the same time, the figure skater was deprived of the gold of the Russian Championship-2022. The athlete passed a positive doping test on the day of the free program – December 25, 2021. Thus, Alexandra Trusova will become the winner of the tournament.

At the 2022 Olympics, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal with her participation. In the figure skater’s sample from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. At the same time, CAS allowed her to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
