Deportivo Cuenca falls to Ferroviária and says goodbye to the Copa Libertadores Femenina

The lionesses added their second defeat, on Tuesday they closed their performance in the tournament against the Paraguayan Sol de América, also eliminated in group A.

Early farewell to the Deportivo Cuenca, first team eliminated from the Copa Libertadores Femenina after losing 2-1 on Saturday to the Brazilians from Ferroviária, who are still on their way to defend their title.

At the Manuel Ferreira stadium in Asunción (Paraguay) the lionesses added the second defeat in the tournament, after losing in his debut 1-0 against Independiente Santa Fe.

The directed Wendy Villón balanced the game in the first stage, but at the start of the complement, Carla Capurro knocked down Larissa Pereira da Cruz in the area. Rafaela Silva went to the charge and in minute 49 put the Brazilians ahead.

Cuenca reacted and managed to equal the score to minute 53 after a long pass from Éricka Gracia, controlled on the edge of the area by Madelin Riera, who with a cross shot defeated goalkeeper Luciana Dionizio, at 1-1.

At minute 59, Ferroviária again took advantage after a series of rebounds inside the red area. At the goal line, and after a corner kick, Nicole Charcopa could not clear the ball and Luana Sartorius ended up pushing him to the goal of Andrea Morán for the 2-1.

Cuenca had in the end the chance to tie the game and stay alive in the Cup. In addition, Charcopa was fouled in the area, with Penalty for the Reds executed by Riera, but his shot crashed horizontally (90 + 4 minutes), without altering the result, with defeat and elimination for the lionesses.

It was the second penalty missed by the captain of the lionesses, who could not score against Independiente (1-0).

With the result, Ferroviária advances to the next phase, as does Independiente Santa Fe, which beat Sol de América 2-0.

On Tuesday, the last of group A, Brazilians and Colombians will define the winner of the series, while Cuenca and Sol de América (17:45) will look for their first points, already eliminated from the tournament.

For him B Group they faced each other Cerro Porteño and Yaracuyanos, with a 2-0 Paraguayan victory, goals by Lourdes Oliveira and Marlene González. Cerro was the first classified to the quarterfinals in his series.

The Saturday day ended with the match between the Chileans of Santiago Morning and the Brazilians from Avaí Kindermann, with equality 0. (D)
