“We talked to her just a few days ago. All recent conversations were connected with the federation and with its coach – she wanted her coach to be judged on merit. Leila really wanted the coach to be promoted. It was a very important moment for her, ”said Yegor, a friend of the athlete.

He also noted that, despite the championship, the girl was very easy to communicate with. “She was a 23-year-old girl who absolutely did not pick up any pathos, despite the fact that she was one of the first representatives of her sport,” Yegor added.

Another acquaintance of the girl, Artem, said that he also recently talked with Leila and they made joint plans.

“I’m still in shock. She was a very cool girl. Very purposeful and always went to the goal. We talked with her not so long ago about a photo shoot: she wanted to take a picture after her arrival. But, unfortunately, everything turned out like this, ”he said.

According to Match TV, the accident occurred in Karelia at the 163rd kilometer of the Sortavala highway. As a result of a collision between Mitsubishi Lancer and Volkswagen Tiguan, the driver and passenger of Mitsubishi were killed.

Saliamova became the champion of Russia in 2021. The athlete also has a silver medal of the national championship in synchronized diving from a tower in 2015.
