Russian hammer thrower Sergei Litvinov confessed to doping in 2012

Russian hammer thrower Sergei Litvinov admitted to doping in 2012. He talked about it on Facebook (a social network banned in Russia; owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).

The athlete stated that he benefited from the doping cover-up system in Russia. “From the end of April to the end of May 2012, I took turinabol and oxandrolone. Before that, I had a throw of 79 meters in February, with doping I improved the result by almost two meters, ”said Litvinov. He added that he had forwarded the information to the Independent Athletics Integrity Unit.

Litvinov is the winner and silver medalist of the 2014 European Team Championship as part of the Russian national team, as well as the bronze medalist in the individual tournament of the 2014 European Championship. In addition, he became the champion of Russia and Germany. The athlete was unable to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

In 2015, due to systematic violations of anti-doping rules, the activities of the All-Russian Federation of Athletics (ARAF) were suspended. As a result, Russian athletes can compete in international competitions only in neutral status.
