Nurmagomedov’s brother Umar said he was not surprised by Khabib’s decision to leave MMA
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Umar Nurmagomedov commented on the decision of his cousin Khabib Nurmagomedov to leave the MMA industry. His words lead to Twitter journalist Aaron Bronsteter.
Umar Nurmagomedov said he was not surprised and knew about his brother’s decision. He noted that Khabib will travel less and be with his family more. “I don’t think he can stop, he will still control me and my brother [Усмана Нурмагомедова], some other guys. He doesn’t want to travel, he doesn’t want to come to the camps and stay there with us for a couple of months,” the athlete added.
On January 7, it became known about Nurmagomedov’s decision to leave the industry. Later, his second cousin and head of Eagle FC promotion Shamil Zavurov said that the Russian would limit his presence in this sport, but would not leave it completely.
Nurmagomedov defended his UFC lightweight title three times before retiring. The athlete won 29 victories in professional fights according to the rules of MMA, without suffering a single defeat. The Russian held his last fight in October 2020, being stronger than the American Justin Gaethje.
