The Ministry of Health noted that at present, tablets and syrups of this drug have been withdrawn from sale in all pharmacies of the republic.

The ministry also said in a statement that as a result of laboratory tests, a toxic substance, ethylene glycol, was detected in the preparation. “The study showed that the deceased children were given this drug at home for two to seven days, three to four times a day, 2.5-5 milliliters each, which exceeds the standard dose of the drug for children, for two to seven days,” the press service added. .

More than 200 children under 5 years of age have been reported to have died in the Gambia and Indonesia after taking this drug, which was also found to contain ethylene glycol.
