Figure skater Kamila Valieva was recognized as the athlete of 2022 according to the Russians
The main athletes of 2022 according to the Russians have become known. The data are given on the website of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM).
The athlete of the year was the champion of Russia and Europe Kamila Valieva, whose name was named by seven percent of the respondents. This is followed by three-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Alexander Bolshunov and three-time world champion in ice hockey Alexander Ovechkin, who received five and four percent of the vote, respectively.
Two more figure skaters turned out to be a little less popular – Olympic champion and world champion Anna Shcherbakova and silver medalist of the 2022 Games Alexandra Trusova. Their names were named by two percent of the respondents.
In 2021, representatives of summer sports became industry leaders. The first place in the ranking was then divided between the gymnast sisters Arina and Dina Averina and tennis player Daniil Medvedev. Four percent of Russians voted for them.
