Figure skater Roman Kostomarov’s father Sergei called his son’s hospitalization a nightmare
Sergei Kostomarov, father of Olympic ice dancing champion Roman Kostomarov, commented on his son’s hospitalization. His words are quoted by the 360 TV channel.
Kostomarov Sr. called the situation a nightmare. “They said they were transferring him to Kommunarka. Probably covid. What kind of doctors do we have? Where could he get sick? he asked, adding that he was in touch with his daughter-in-law Oksana Domnina.
Kostomarov was admitted to intensive care on January 10. Doctors assessed his condition as serious. The figure skater was connected to a ventilator (ALV) and to an apparatus for saturating the blood with oxygen. He was diagnosed with progressive pneumonia, intoxication of the body and sepsis.
Together with Tatyana Navka, Kostomarov became the Olympic champion in ice dancing, twice won the world championship, three times became the champion of Europe and the final of the Grand Prix series of the International Skating Union. Since 2014, he has been married to Domnina.
