The famous “What are you looking at, fool?” of Lionel Messi during the World Cup in Qatar 2022 arrived at the Australian Open tennis in a humorous video published by the Serbian star Novak Djokovic and the Argentine Diego Schwartzman.
In the video, posted to their Instagram accounts late Thursday, the two appear in the gym, Djokovic posing defiantly and Schwartzman walking past him, also with a defiant look.
Tania Andrade traveled to Melbourne to compete at the Australian Junior Open
“What are you looking at, fool? Va payá bobo, va payá”, the Serbian releases in perfect Spanish and imitating Messi’s gesticulation, while the Argentine is withdrawing from the shot unable to prevent a smile from escaping.
The Australian Open will not have the number one in the world: Carlos Alcaraz is out due to injury
Sports stars responded to the publication with laughing emoticons, such as the Argentine champion Nicolás Otamendi, the former Albiceleste internationals Maxi Rodríguez and Juan Sebastián Verón or the Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, number one in the world.
The phrase pronounced by Messi to the Dutchman Wout Weghorst after the quarterfinals in Qatar (2-2, the Albiceleste went through penalties) caused an immediate furor in Argentina, where T-shirts, mugs or pennants with those words quickly went on sale.
Both Djokovic and Schwartzman lived closely the third Albiceleste world title, although in different locations. The Serb enjoyed the match live in Qatar, while “El Peque” joined the huge festivities unleashed in Buenos Aires.
Both are now in Melbourne for the first Grand Slam of the year, which begins next Monday. (D)
