Three-time Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova suggested that Russian skiers Alexander Bolshunov and Sergey Ustyugov reconcile. Her words are quoted by Sport24.
“Bolshunov and Ustyugov need to get together, drink properly on New Year’s Eve and forget all old grievances. Two excellent skiers, but behave like schoolchildren. What should they drink? Yes, even vodka, if only they didn’t quarrel anymore. Scandals do not color skiing, ”said Reztsova.
On December 28, the head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation, Elena Vyalbe, called Bolshunov and Ustyugov “sheep who decided to play on each other’s nerves.” She expressed her hope that the conflict between the athletes would be resolved in the near future.
On December 27, Bolshunov and Ustyugov collided in the semi-final freestyle sprint race. The skiers, being in the leading positions, hit each other on the descent, after which they fell and could not reach the final of the race.
