Aucas debuts internationally as Ecuadorian champion tying at the Noche Crema de Universitario

The international premiere of Aucas as current champion of Ecuador was moderately auspicious for the leadership of the Venezuelan César Farías who drew 0-0 against Universitario de Deportes in the friendly presentation match of the Peruvian team called Noche Crema, which took place on Saturday at the Monumental stadium of Ate.

In the commitment, Universitario took the initiative but found it difficult to deepen in the first half. For the complementary stage they pressed their foot on the accelerator and thus advanced their lines, but the nets did not move in any arc. On the part of Aucas, the team had no offensive weight despite the fact that his coach had the new reinforcements.

Aucas, unprecedented champion of Ecuador who will debut in the Copa Libertadores

The positive note is that the eastern team remained undefeated since Farías commanded the technical direction: 23 games (22 for the LigaPro Serie A 2022).

Both teams are still doing their preseason jobs. Universitario, led by Argentine Carlos Compagnucci, is preparing for Liga 1 and the Copa Sudamericana this year, while Aucas will defend his LigaPro Serie A title, debut in the Copa Libertadores, face the Copa Ecuador and play the Ecuador Super Cup.

The Peruvian ‘U’ played with ten men from minute 72 due to the expulsion of midfielder Horacio Calcaterra after stopping the new eastern winger Erick Castillo with a free kick. The ex-Barcelona SC was getting rid of his mark and, little by little, was approaching the rival area, which is why he received the free kick from ‘Calca’ before his arrival generated more danger.

That led Compagnucci to change his game plan, as he had made several changes to give his team a new look. With one less, Universitario had to back off his attempts and seek to do damage from counterattacks, which he never achieved since Aucas was well stopped in all his attempts.

Calcaterra, an Argentine nationalized Peruvian, justified that the auquistas put “the strong leg” in the second half.

“Overall it was a great game for the team. They (Aucas) have a team that has also worked hard, but we had the clearest situations, unfortunately we couldn’t score a goal, we couldn’t win, which was what we wanted. The analysis is positive because we played a great game, ”he analyzed.

Aucas joined the Monumental field with Hernán Galíndez, Aubrey David, Luis Cangá and Luis Romero, Pedro Perlaza, Carlos Cuero, Ángelo Mina, Edison Carcelén, Jordan Rezabala, Luis Cano and Jefferson Montero. In the second half, Farías admitted Roberto Ordóñez, Alan García, Jhonny Quiñónez, Stiven Plaza, Édison Vega, Marcos Mejía, Erick Castillo and Christian Alemán.

Aubrey David, Ángelo Mina, Jordan Rezabala and Jefferson Montero made their debut as starters with the Ecuadorian champion’s jersey. Steven Plaza and Christian Alemán also joined the squad as reinforcements.

Aucas is waiting for the draw for the Copa Libertadores groups to find out the identity of their opponents in the continental tournament. Its debut in the LigaPro Serie A is scheduled for the last week of February, when the national championship starts. (D)
