Club Sport Emelec made official this Saturday the signing of Argentine central midfielder Carlos Villalba for the entire 2023 season.

“The Argentine midfielder arrives at Club Sport Emelec for a year on loan with an option to buy,” El Bombillo reported on his social channels.
The 24-year-old midfielder works as number five and has been a national champion in Uruguay.
When do Emelec and Deportivo Cuenca play at the start of the Copa Sudamericana?
According to information developed by the Argentine producer César Luis Merlo -the specialist in the transfer market at the Latin American level-, Emelec will have a purchase option of 450,000 dollars for the entire Villalba pass, which belongs to Talleres de Córdoba.
Villalba has spent almost his entire career in football in his country. He was trained in Talleres, but made his debut as a professional at Club Atlético Rentistas, in Montevideo (Uruguay). His debut was against Nacional, on February 16, 2020, in his team’s 2-0 victory. With that team he became champion of the 2020 Opening Tournament of Uruguayan soccer.
The one born in Resistencia has also been a member of Platense. There he accumulated 25 games in the recent season. After the end of his loan in Platense, Villalba returned to Talleres, but he has not yet been able to add minutes in the senior squad. Where he did it was in the U-20 Copa Libertadores: he played three games (244 minutes).
According to Transfermarkt, Villalba has accumulated 36 professional matches with Rentistas and 25 with Platense. In his last campaign he added 1,997 minutes: 1,953 in appearances for the Argentine Professional League tournament and 44 for a commitment played in the Argentine Cup.
José Luis Pileggi, president of the blue institution, advanced the hiring of the albiceleste last Wednesday in goaltv.
“There is a combination of people with a lot of experience, who are blue at heart, also the one who is coming to contribute like the foreigners we bring, for example (Federico) Andrueza and (Carlos) Villalba, who are already confirmed, come with excellent figures. Pileggi noted.
“They come from playing and that guarantees that they come to contribute with everything, they are middle-aged footballers, with some of them we will have purchase options, so we are not only investing for the present but for the future,” said the manager.
So far, there are eleven new players who have joined the Emelec squad with a view to the 2023 campaign that starts in February.
