Saber fencer Lokhanov said he divorced Olympic champion Pozdnyakova for various reasons
Russian saber fencer Konstantin Lokhanov on Instagram (social network banned in Russia; owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) appreciated the information that he divorced the Olympic champion in saber Sofia Pozdnyakova due to his departure to the United States.
The athlete said that he and Pozdnyakova broke up for various reasons. “That’s all I can say on this subject, unlike some representatives of the Russian sports elite, who decided that our personal life concerns them, and gave many interviews to the yellow press,” he stressed.
On September 5, it became known that Lokhanov was divorcing Pozdnyakova. Then it was reported that he left for the United States to engage in coaching. Lokhanov offered his wife to go with him, but the fencer decided to stay in Russia and file for divorce.
Lokhanov participated in the 2020 Olympics, but did not win any medals. He is a two-time world junior saber fencing champion.
