RFU President Dyukov: Pele has always been and will be an example of exceptional devotion to football
President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov commented on the death of the three-time world football champion Pele. His statement was published on the official website of the organization.
He stressed that the death of the athlete was an irreparable loss. “In Russia, fans of all generations treated Pele with special warmth and love, for us he has always been and will be an example of exceptional devotion to football,” Dyukov said.
He expressed condolences to the family and friends of the football player both on his own behalf and on behalf of the organization. “The memory of him will always live in our hearts,” Dyukov said.
Pele’s death became known on December 29. This was reported by his daughter Keli Nascimentu. The athlete’s death was confirmed by his agent Joe Fraga.
The cause of death was organ failure. It was reported that Pele will be buried in a vertical cemetery in the Brazilian city of Santos.
