Leonardo Campana, a forward who plays for Inter Miami in the United States, was one of the footballers who was part of the process from Ecuador to Qatar 2022, however, he was not on the final roster that competed in the tournament played last December.
The 22-year-old from Guayaquil was in the city during the holidays and this Thursday he returned to North American soil to join the work of his club and was consulted about having been left out of the World Cup.
“I was left out of the World Cup. I don’t have things very clear, they never communicated with me, but the doors will always be open for the National Team, ”he said.
“I work to be there, the Qualifiers come and nobody gets me out of my head that I can be there and leave the name of the country high. Every player works to be in the National Team, hopefully he can wear that shirt and vindicate me ”, added the attacker.
Regarding Gustavo Alfaro, who is still unknown if he will continue to command the national team, Campana highlighted the work done.
“I have not spoken with the Profe, if he stays I wish him all the best. He has done a great job in the National Team, but if another person comes, he will have the doors open and the support of all the players, ”he specified.
Campana said he is focused on the work in his current squad, however he hopes to return to European football.
“That is the mentality of every player. Now I feel very comfortable, happy in a very competitive league that has been growing and will continue to grow even more”, he concluded. (D)
