Guardiola downplays euphoria for Manchester classic: “It’s another game”

Manchester United e Manchester City face off this Saturday at Old Trafford, at 9:30 am (GMT), in a game valid for the 11th round of the English Championship.

Despite being a clash between teams from the same city and two of the main teams in England, coach Pep Guardiola contained the euphoria for the derby.

“I don’t think so (which is the biggest game). Maybe for some people. We try to make every game important. The derby is special for sentimental matters, but in the end the result is the same. It’s not a final, it’s more of a game”, he said.

“I wake up in the morning, come to the training center, stay here from 10 to 14 hours and then go home. I don’t go to pubs to drink beer, so I can’t imagine the atmosphere. It’s normal, but I have to be with a cool head to know what to do, to do our best. No more than that,” he concluded.

You Citizens occupy third place in the Premier League with 20 points, five less than leaders Chelsea. already the Red Devils are in fifth place with 17 points.

In a press conference, the City coach recalled the recent retrospective of the derby. Despite not achieving such favorable results (a victory in the last five games), the Spaniard praised his team’s performance in duels with United.

“We played good games against them, maybe it’s not a good result, except for one game last season that was a little boring… In general, we played good games. We were ourselves when we played them. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose”, he commented.
