The head coach of the Russian national team, Alexei Zhamnov, said that he does not yet know anything concrete about the situation with the positive doping test of the Russian striker of the Colorado Avalanche National Hockey League (NHL) club Valery Nichushkin. His words are quoted by “Championship.com”.
“I have no specific information. When we find out everything, then there will be understanding, ”the specialist responded to the incident. The coach said that during a trip to North America he did not meet with Nichushkin, but planned to call him.
The doping scandal involving Nichushkin became known on November 4. The 26-year-old hockey player faces a four-year disqualification due to a positive doping test, which was taken in 2013. Studies have found increased testosterone levels. The doping test was taken before the Sochi Olympics, where Nichushkin played in the Russian national team. The hockey player said he intends to sue the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Nichushkin is known for his performances for the Dallas Stars and Colorado Evalanche NHL clubs. He twice became the silver medalist of the Russian championship, playing for Traktor and CSKA.
