Ivorian striker David Datro Fofana signs for Chelsea

THE chelsea announced this Saturday (7) the hiring of 20-year-old David Datro Fofana from Maritime. The striker came from Norwegian Molde and signed for six and a half years with an optional season.

After arriving in Norway in February 2021, Fofana scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists in 65 appearances for Molde before signing for the Londoners. On his resume, the player has two caps for the Ivory Coast national team.

“I am very happy to sign with the club of my dreams,” said the player in a statement released by the English club.

“We have to give him a little time to train, evaluate him and work to find the best solution for him to overcome this new stage of his career”, recently commented coach Graham Potter. Fofana has not played since mid-November, when the club were waiting for the last administrative formalities to be fulfilled.

Hit by a wave of injuries, mainly offensive, with Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic out after the midweek game against Manchester City, the Blues need reinforcements in the offensive sector.

After signing French defender Benoît Badiashile a few days ago, Chelsea would be interested in his compatriot Marcus Thuram (Borussia Moenchengladbach), Ukrainian Mykhaylo Mudryk (Shakhtar Donetsk) and Portuguese João Félix (Atlético Madrid) to reinforce the attack.
