Hockey player “Barys” Shevchenko was deprived of citizenship of Kazakhstan because of the Russian passport
Forward of the club of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) “Barys” Dmitry Shevchenko was deprived of citizenship of Kazakhstan due to the presence of a Russian passport. It is reported by Shaiba.kz with reference to the department of the migration service of Astana.
According to the source, an initiative group of fans requested to check the hockey player for a second passport. It is noted that after the denunciation on December 6, Shevchenko lost the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan due to the presence of foreign citizenship.
Shevchenko was born in Russia, but in 2017 he received the citizenship of Kazakhstan. The forward was announced for the Kazakhstan national team at the First Channel Cup. He played for Barys from 2017 to 2021, then played for Avangard Omsk for a season and a half, after which he returned to Astana.
In September, Slovak goalkeeper “Barys” Julius Gudacek assessed the likelihood of leaving the league due to politics. The hockey player said that political issues cannot affect his decision on choosing a place to continue his career.
