About life in prison, Becker noted that you have to take care of yourself: “It’s extremely full, extremely dirty, extremely dangerous, with murderers, sexual offers, drug dealing, you know all kinds of things… You get out of your cell and you have to take care of yourself because the guards won’t do it for you”.
