Optical worker was beaten, thrown to the ground and assaulted in the center of Guayaquil

It took seconds for a man to intercept a worker, hit him with a firearm, throw him to the ground and take his belongings, including a cell phone and money.

This event occurred yesterday afternoon on García Avilés street, between Aguirre and Luque. The incident was recorded on security cameras in that area and went viral on social media.

In that sector you can still see the blood stains on the portal of one of the buildings in that area.

There, the vendors and owners of premises, mainly opticians that are in the sector, indicated that they are surprised by this criminal action, since in the area there were no robberies with such physical aggression.

They noted that later it became known that the young man was going to cash some checks at a bank and that they were already following him.

“We recognized the man, who also works in an optician; he is known to my husband. They left him beaten, with a broken nose. The ambulance arrived and they assisted the young man, because he was very disoriented, ”said the owner of an optician.

After the robbery, the subject got on a motorcycle that was waiting for him a few steps from that area and they fled.

Uniforms from the 9 de Octubre district indicated that these robberies with violence do not occur regularly in that place; that, due to the commercial season of Christmas, there are more reports of robberies and thefts in those central streets, such as García Avilés and Rumichaca. (YO)
