UFC named Prochazka vs. Teixeira the best fight of 2022, Jan vs. O’Malley fight in top 10
In the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the fight between Czech Jiri Prochazka and Brazilian Glover Teixeira in light heavyweight was named the best fight of 2022. This was reported on the website of the organization.
The meeting took place in June at the UFC 275 tournament in Singapore and ended with Prochazka’s victory by choke hold 30 seconds before the end of the final round. In second place in the list of the best fights of the year was the victory of the Swedish fighter of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev over the Brazilian Gilbert Burns, who claimed the welterweight title.
The top 10 also included the confrontation between the Russian Petr Yan and the American Sean O’Malley. The fight took place at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi on October 22. O’Malley won by split decision. Two judges gave the victory to the American, one chose the Russian athlete.
The UFC has named Australian Alex Volkanovski the best fighter of 2022. The second place in the ranking was taken by the Brazilian Alex Pereira. Russian Islam Makhachev closed the top three.
