Russian figure skater Veronika Yametova explained the connection between school and sports success. Her words are reported by RIA Novosti.
Yametova said that she does not perform ultra-c elements because of the preparation for the exam. “I won’t take risks with a triple axel. I am preparing for the final exams in the ninth grade. Therefore, I train the axel, but I won’t do it yet, ”she shared.
Yametova is the winner of the Russian Cup in 2022. This season, she took part in two stages of the Grand Prix of the country, in which she took second and fourth places.
Earlier, two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko appreciated the ability of figure skaters to perform a quadruple axel. “I said 15 years ago that girls would jump all quadruple jumps, triple axels, a combination of two quadruple jumps, and girls would have a quadruple axel, it’s a matter of time,” he said.
