As he has been commenting these days, the best thing for him was to find himself with the sensations of victory and feel competitive beyond training sessions.
“In the end it’s about ending the season with a win. It’s all about seeing myself competitive against a great player with a chance of winning. It is about having the satisfaction that after a couple of very hard days, I went to the training tracks yesterday and did a very good training session with the right attitude”, he explained.
Nadal also insisted that he does not know if he will play the Davis Cup again, although he indicated that he would like to say goodbye to that competition on the track.
“Let’s see if one day I can play Davis Cup again. I am not sure about it. Of course, in my mind, I would love to say goodbye to that beautiful competition by playing. We are going to see what can happen in the future, ”he declared at the press conference after the clash with the Norwegian.
“I don’t know what can happen in the future. As everyone knows, I’m getting old (laughs). Although I would like to be everywhere, I just can’t,” he added.
A Davis Cup in which Spain will not be able to count on Alcaraz or Nadal himself, although the Spaniard maintains his confidence in the ‘Armada’ intact.
“I was not an option, the captain knows from the beginning of the season after everything I went through last year, and especially what happened at the end of the last five or six months. Even if it was a small chance, he was not able to put all the effort there,” he noted.
“If I represent my country, I have to do it with all the passion, confidence and spirit like I did in 2019 in Madrid. I don’t think this year I would have been able to be at that level of everything, ”she pointed out.
